Our goal is to gather and share the immigration records of our ancestors who immigrated to America from Pielgrzymka, Klopotnica, Folusz and Wola Cieklinksa. The number of immigration records from our four small villages has become larger-- and the collection of data more complicated-- than anticipated. This is the approach we are using:

I. We begin with individual Ellis Island records (1892-1924) for immigrants from the four villages. Immigrant records-- initially obtained through standard and variant spelling searches of each village-- have now been combined.

II. Capatho-Rusyn immigration began in the late 1880's so there are approximately fifteen years in which our people entered America before Ellis Island existed. These numbers, however, are appreciably lower than during "The Golden Age if Immigration." Many came in through Castle Garden and their records were destroyed in a fire the night before the new Ellis Island Immigration Center opened. There are still a significant number of village immigrants whose presence in the new world is documented in photographic, church and civil records but whose immigration records are not available online. We will attempt to include as many of these early immigrants as we can find. They will be identified as Pre-Ellis Island (PEI).

III. In addition to the listed Ellis Island site records, we know from other documents that there are names which should be included in these records but which have not yet been found. We will call these NEI (Not in Ellis Island) and continue to search for obscure spelling variants under which they might be listed. Again, we will find a way to record them on this site.

IV. There are also a number of immigrants who seem clearly, by name and destination, to be from our villages but who do not have "place of origin" included on their manifests. We will also include these names.

V. Finally, as our ancestors became naturalized citizens, we find records in which familiar village surnames have American towns as "place of origin." We will include these names when appropriate.
